Ignition Architecture was asked by Tomatina to design a modern yet family-friendly restaurant with a warm dining room, lush patio dining, and a display kitchen featuring a pizza oven for their Dublin location.

The project’s budget required that we carefully study the use of materials, to strike a balance between higher cost, visually rich materials, and less expensive background materials. We also ensured great acoustics and soft, calming lighting in order to enhance the dining experience.

We developed a palette of warm and bold colors. The countertops are a combination of bright red, quartz composite and concrete countertops, embedded with bits of recycled, red, car brake lights. These are juxtaposed against cherry wood casework and wainscoting and warm paint colors. We have taken advantage of the double-height entry to feature a custom arrangement of glassy red globe pendant lights set in a field at random heights. This installation is evocative of the iconic flying tomatoes featured in the restaurant’s artwork and branding.
