Riverwood Grove is a large single-room occupancy (SRO) and part of a two-phase, transit-oriented housing development. The winner of a Gold Nugget Award of Merit from the Pacific Coast Builder’s Conference and a Builder’s Choice Award of Merit from Builder Magazine, Riverwood Place provides partially-furnished efficiency studios with a kitchenette, bed and dresser. Residents enjoy many amenities and ample community space for organized activities including meetings and classes, bright reading nooks on each floor, and three private, landscaped courtyards with tables and seating. The project is situated with access to local shopping centers, a busy business district, universities, an amusement park and a local park. Bus and light rail service stops directly across the street from the community.
The SRO included three stories of studio units over a concrete podium and parking. The unusual shape, which followed an adjacent curving street, had four extensions, allowing for three separate and secure exterior courtyards for the use by the tenants.
