Nestled within walking distance to the Colma BART Station, this affordable housing project was part of a re-zoning program to encourage a high-density residential and mixed-use district in the diverse town of Colma on the San Francisco Peninsula.
The porches and entries of the two- and three-bedroom townhomes create an urban frontage along Nevin Way. The retail component is located at grade along El Camino Real, culminating in a small tower and plaza at the intersection of the two frontages. The townhomes surround a residential court, which is one level up from the street and reached by a cascading exterior stair and an elevator. The community center, located off the courtyard, contains a computer-learning center and a community meeting room. An outdoor children’s play area is also incorporated at the courtyard level.
